Community Visitors Scheme

Make a positive difference to someone’s day

The Community Visitors Scheme (CVS) enriches the quality of the lives of residents in government subsidised aged care facilities who may feel socially isolated or lonely and would benefit from a visit by a friendly community member.

CVS is a federal government initiative and has been running in Lismore for over 20 years.

The CVS helps to establish links between people living in residential aged care and their local community. A volunteer Community Visitor is initially matched by our project officer with a resident based on their shared interests.

What do community visitors do?

Commit to visiting your resident friend at least once a fortnight, usually for 1 or 1.5 hours per visit.

Visits could be spent doing something that you both enjoy – eg reading to the Resident, going for a walk in the facility grounds, listening to music together, chatting & reminiscing or watching a favourite TV program together.
